CostPartner ApS: Honoured for helping save millions on freight”

Entrepreneur Of The Year 2009:

The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year competition is recognised throughout Denmark – and worldwide – as the most highly respected competition for entrepreneurs. For this reason, we feel justifiably proud to have won the award in the Start-Up category, which is for companies with the potential to generate significant growth in the coming years.

No cure – No pay basis. Since the foundation of our company in 2001, we have helped our customers save more than DKK 500 million. The jury analysed our concept and concluded that we have the potential to help companies make even bigger savings in the years to come.

A total of 2,200 Danish companies with impressive growth potential were selected and nominated for the title of Entrepreneur Of the Year 2009. As we were up against stiff competition, we were initially delighted to be one of the three companies shortlisted for the award in the Start-Up category and invited to the awards ceremony in the Bella Centre, Copenhagen, on Thursday, 19 November 2009. However, we were soon to have even more reason to feel proud. In the presence of 700 representatives of the Danish business community, we were awarded the title of Entrepreneur Of The Year 2009 in the Start-Up category.

What was said on presentation of the award:

Henrik Brorsen:
The Start-Up category

It is only natural to include a Start-Up category in the Entrepreneur Of The Year awards. It is in this category that we find companies and entrepreneurs with the commitment to set up shop and lay the foundations for the fundamental growth of their business. It is in this category that we honour and recognise the extraordinary work done in these companies, so as to encourage them to continue along their chosen path.

The early years have never been easy for newly founded companies and new entrepreneurs, but the ongoing financial crisis has made things even more difficult. For this reason, the jury has the following to say to all the participants in this category. “You are doing a fantastic job, you are showing true entrepreneurial spirit, and you are all winner candidates.”

The nominees have now been presented, and it is time to announce the winner, which the jury chose for the following reasons:

Marlene Haugaard:
Start-Up – the jury’s evaluation

This year’s winner in the Start-Up Category has not only taken the step to become an advisor in a sector that is quick to feel the effects of a recession in the market, the company has also generated such strong profits that it is able to operate on a “no cure – no pay” basis. Moreover, its consultants do more than simply provide advice, they also play an active part in the implementation of their solutions. Therefore, it is the opinion of the jury that the company and its two entrepreneurs operate a business model that is significantly different from those of other companies. This fact – combined with impressive growth in both revenues and profits – makes the company unique.

The company in question is run by entrepreneurs who very much live up to the spirit of true entrepreneurship. Since they started in 2001, they have built the company up from scratch – so literally that not even rejections from the banks knocked them off course. With confidence in themselves and their concept, they simply contacted potential customers directly, and three months later they were in a position to issue their first invoice. They used their own funds to establish the company, and their business grew and generated profits from the start. Today, it has no debts and no external stakeholders.

The jury has noted that the company expects growth to continue in 2009 and has a clear growth strategy for the period up to 2012. The jury has also noted that despite achieving growth year after year, the company has nonetheless chosen to involve external consultants so as to ensure that the business is viewed by fresh, independent eyes in the same way as it is by its two entrepreneurs. Because, in the words of the old saying, “you can be blinded by love”.
